About Dr. Peterson and "The Natural Look”

Dr. John L. Peterson, M.D., Ph.D

Dr. Peterson is a board-certified dermatologist who started performing hair restoration surgery in the late 1970s. Because hair loss is a dermatological problem, this specialty background provides an in-depth understanding of hair anatomy and physiology. In addition, it provides an unique knowledge of the nuances of skin surface texture along with hair character, contour, and color. Most importantly, such specialty training provides a keen appreciation for the psychological factors related to self-image and appearance.

Dr. Peterson has performed hair restoration on thousands of men and women, many with hair loss problems identical to yours. While hair transplantation was basically in its infancy, he was among the first to accommodate the demand for "low visibility" while procedures were being done, as well as using minigrafting and micrografting exclusively en lieu of the larger grafts commonly used up to that time.

Dr. Peterson’s development of the original Natural Look Method resulted from years of analysis and attempts to provide a “full look” that patients desired. Historically, this exceptional method of softening and naturalizing an individual’s hairline, as well as providing fuller scalp coverage, giving him a reputation as one of the top hair restoration surgeons nationally and internationally.

Credentials, Education and Affiliations

John L. Peterson, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from the University of Utah, and completed his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Among his affiliations are the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatological Surgery and one of the original founding members of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.

He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Dermatology.
